Watching a loved one struggle with health issues is incredibly hard. Oftentimes, you are taking care of your loved one, assisting with tasks they may no longer be able to do independently. While the person struggling with the disease is going through a traumatic experience, but so is their caretaker. The caretaker, often a spouse, can easily feel overwhelmed and even depressed throughout taking care of their loved one. People often forget about the caregiver because besides the stress, and sometimes depression, they are otherwise perfectly healthy. Caregiver burden is real and it can take a detrimental toll on a person.
VITAL Caregiver Support is a community for caregivers who are feeling the effects of taking care of a loved one. VITAL Caregiver Support allows for caregivers to commiserate together and reduce that caregiver burden. There needs to be more of an acknowledgement to the endless dedication caregivers provide to their loved ones and with VITAL Caregiver Support, we can start to increase that appreciation. With VITAL Caregiver Support, through Veterans Affairs, caregiver burden will not be so overwhelming and the caregivers can provide the best possible support and dedication to their loved ones.
